Meet Mike Andrew, our exceptionally talented Sr Mechanical Engineer, and one of our longest-tenured employees. Mike enjoys the unique environment at bb7, where he can participate in creative projects that help people and also offer him the opportunity to bring his innovative ideas to life. “Imagining and then building something brand new that is useful, innovative and attractive to others is a real hoot.” bb7 has become more than just a workplace for Mike; it has become a home, lasting longer than any previous employment. His favorite project so far has been designing a dust filtering helmet, which included elements of innovation, human factors, advanced surface modeling, and off-site testing. Reflecting on this project, Mike shares what he believes to be the perfect compliment from the client, “It just works!”

Throughout his career, Mike has learned valuable lessons shaping his approach to work and life. He emphasizes the importance of understanding what success looks like and staying informed about current and emerging tools, systems, technology, and methods. Mike believes in the value of seeking out trustworthy, knowledgeable people and always considering the needs of others when making decisions. He advocates studying the best minds in the field to understand why they excel and encourages stepping back to imagine more innovative or economical solutions. Mike is dedicated to creating designs that maximize synergy and include at least one element of delight. He takes pride in his work, being his own toughest critic, and prefers to let his achievements speak for themselves.

Outside work, Mike enjoys physical activities that help clear his mind. Over the years, his interests evolved from running, tennis, racquetball, cycling, sailing, and windsurfing, to golfing, kayaking, and hiking. Some may have heard about his eclectic collection of Cantonese pop music – ask him to play some tunes by Sammi Cheng, Coco Lee, Karen Tong, or Bondy Chiu!

Mike’s passion for creativity, his thoughtful, detailed approach to his work, and diverse interests outside the office stand out in everything he does. Whether at work or play, Mike consistently brings a unique blend of innovation and dedication to everything he does! 🖊⛳️🎶
