Job Summary: The UX Designer is responsible for user-centered design, visualizing, and executing strategic user experiences for bb7’s clients in the consumer, scientific, industrial, and medical industries.  This role will engage in all five phases of the design thinking process to understand users’ needs, generate ideas to solve problems, prototype designs, and test with users.

Key Responsibilities:

Empathize

  • Identify target user groups, and conduct interviews and other forms of inquiry to understand user needs
  • Conduct user research through interviews, observations, and other research methods
  • Analyze and identify pain points from the users’ perspective, based on your user research

Define

  • Collaborate with the internal team and client stakeholders to understand and clearly define the problem
  • Develop criteria and propose the most promising idea(s) based on their feasibility, desirability, and viability, among other criteria
  • Create personas and journey maps to show workflows and critical use cases

Ideate

  • Participate in, or lead, ideation sessions to explore potential solutions to address users’ needs in a way that provides value to the client
  • Explore various design approaches to solve specific user problems

Prototype

  • Determine and support development of prototype designs, which can range from simple paper sketches to high-fidelity and interactive digital mock-ups
  • Create prototypes, wireframes, and mock-ups to demonstrate the functioning and layout of the product

test

  • Conduct usability and user tests to determine if the design(s) meet user expectations
  • Optimize user interface designs and test for intuitiveness and user-centeredness

 

EDUCATION & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, Communications or related field
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UX design for product or device development
  • Proficient with visual design programs such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, or Illustrator
  • Strong visual literacy in layout, color theory, visual hierarchy, and typography
  • In depth knowledge of UX trends, technologies, and design strategy & theory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously, on self-directed projects, and holding oneself accountable to deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Portfolio with examples showcasing innovate ways to solve user problems and strong design skills
