bb7 is partnering with a growing company in the design and manufacture of home and garden products to find a mid-level Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will be responsible for new product design and existing product improvements for multiple projects in the fast-growing Design Engineering department. This is a direct-hire opportunity in Batavia, IL.


The Design Engineer is responsible for providing design, development and analysis of products for cosmetic and functional housing, internal components, and development, including evaluation of existing standard parts. The Design Engineer verifies designs using simulations for engineering analysis, manual methods, and functional test; and designs and performs experiments for verification of analysis. The Design Engineer brings new and existing products and technologies to the market under limited supervision.

  • A 4-year bachelor of science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (a bachelor of applied science degree will NOT be accepted) from an accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable foreign university.
  • High level of expertise in solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good conceptualization, visualization and creativity.
  • Good time management, prioritization & analytical problem solving.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work with high degree of accuracy.
  • Good design experience with Plastics, sheet metal, metal castings (Die and sand) with knowledge of material specs and use.
  • Good experience in new product design and development
  • Knowledge & experience of GD&T required
  • Knowledge of tools (FMEA, DOE, FEA, 8D etc) required
  • Complies with record-keeping and file sharing conventions.
  • Adaptable, able to adjust to ongoing changes and improvements.
  • Experience with assemblies and mechanisms.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
